Mahebourg Historical Quest
Description
Set out for a rich experience and knowledge of the history the island of Mauritius, colonization, immigrants arrival and battles.
Visit the old town of Mahebourg which used to be the first port of the island, starting with the National History Museum (naval museum) & meet local craft making before tasting a succulent Mauritian lunch at a local’s house.
Proceed to Biscuiterie Rault/ Manioc Factory, a locally grown plant, cassava, to understand different processes in its sustainable production.
Time to end the tour with the discovery of Ile aux Aigrettes a coralline limestone island declared a nature Reserve in 1965 .
The island is home to the last remnants of dry coastal forest, unique flore and fauna & the place to see giant tortoise and the Ornate Day Gecko in a safe and protected environment.
The duration for this visit itself : +/- 1.5Hrs This Tour is scheduled on Monday because the Local Market is opened only on Monday.
